3D movies

(Sources: engadget.com)

Watching 3D movies was a great experience for me. I’ve watched once and I was amazed by how they can convert something on screen and make us feel like we are in the scene too with them. And it all because of the glasses and technology that that’s in the movie. Long before movies like Hobbit were shot and viewed in 3D, people were putting on real live performances, which don’t simply approximate the 3D experience – they are the genuine article.
3D movies are quite common these days, with many of the latest animated films, action-packed blockbusters and horror flicks being presented with a third-dimension. The passive polarizing technology used to display 3D in most movie theaters is also similar to those found in passive 3D TVs. However, the fact that some movies are presented in several 3D formats in the theaters can be somewhat confusing.
Most of us who've caught a 3D movie at the cinemas recently probably experienced the more common RealD 3D technology, while Imax Digital 3D (as well as its analog counterpart) is a format presented at Imax auditoriums. But is there any difference between RealD 3D and Imax Digital 3D?
Why do people like 3D movies? If people are all 3D-ed out in their regular lives, why do we jump at the chance to wear funny glasses at the cinema? Part of the attraction, surely, is that movies can show us places we’ve never been, whether real or imaginary, and so with 3D we can more fully experience what it is like to have a Tyrannosaurus rex make a snout-reaching grab for us. But there is more to it.
3D movies differ from their real-life versions because everyone in the audience is a target, and all at the same time. This is because the 3D technology (sending up left and right eye images to the screen, with glasses designed to let each eye see only the image intended for it) gives everyone in the audience the same 3D effect. These passive 3D glasses use polarizing filters to allow each eye to see a slightly different image. This is why the glasses can sometimes seem darker in one eye than the other--it's meant to block out certain spectrums of light. The glasses at Imax theaters are larger, to compensate for the larger field-of-view at those auditoriums.

Both these technologies are also digital, which means that you'll get a clean image and none of the image noise or "cigarette burns" that are visible from regular film projectors. If the dragon’s flames appear to me to nearly singe my hair but spare everyone else’s, your experience at the other side of the theater is that the dragon’s flames nearly singe your hair and spare everyone else’s, including mine. If I experience a golf ball shooting over the audience to my left, then the audience to my left also experiences the golf ball going over their left. 3D movies  put on a show that is inextricably tied to each listener. It invades each listener’s space. Everyone’s experience is identical in the sense that they’re all treated to the same visual and auditory vantage point, but everyone’s experience is unique because each experiences themselves as the target. Each believes they have a special targeted vantage point.
The difference, then, between a live show seen up close and a 3D movie of the same show is that the former pulls just one or several audience members into the thick of the story, whereas 3D movies have this effect on everyone. So part of the fun of these movies is not they are 3D: the fun is in being targeted. And that fundamentally alters the emotional experience. It no longer feels like a story about others, but becomes a

story that invades your space – perhaps threateningly, perhaps provocatively, perhaps joyously.
No, we don’t suffer the indignity of 3D glasses for the “popping-out feeling”. We enjoy 3D movies because when we watch them we are no longer mere audience members at all.

After talking about technology and system, this shows how our lives have actually or I should say automatically involve in system. In other words we are the ‘system’ and we ourselves have been programmed and tested in order to make technology greater than the world itself.

Online reading anyone?

(Sources: asia-globalstudies.org)
Reading books online? Technology make things from imposibble to something that is posibble for us to do or read. A relatively new phenomenon is the E-Reader, be it Kindle, iPad, or a number of other new competitors coming into the marketplace.  When you think about it, these devices would seem to be more environmentally friendly than your typical paper and cardboard book, even a paperback.  Should we be buying our loved ones e-readers or traditional books this holiday season?

There is a certain tactile value to “real” books, just feeling the paper, turning the pages.  I find that I miss this when using an e-reader.  But on the surface, the e-reader would seem to be much more green. Well e-reader would be more convenient in a way readers doesn’t have to carry thick books anywhere they go.
For light reading, the overall reading experience on a Kindle is roughly comparable to that of a book, with some pros and cons of reading online.

One of the good things is that The Kindle font is attractive and print is crisp and easily readable, even in bright sunlight. The font size is adjustable. I think the readability is the strongest point of Kindle, and I think it is potentially a benefit for elder people or people with vision problems (although perhaps even larger fonts would be desirable). The most important Kindle controls--book selection and font size selection--have dedicated buttons. Kindle remembers the last page you have read when you shut it off and opens to it when turn it on again. Kindle lays flat, while books usually do not. It is lightweight and handy, and, so is particularly good for travelers. Those who tend to travel heavy, with lots of reading matter, and books take up lots of space and weight, and a Kindle would obviate this problem.

(Sources: engadget.com)
There is also the bad part of it. It is impossible to do anything like browsing through a book. It's almost impossible to tell how long a book is. In a book that consists of a series of short stories, say, the table of contents gives the name of each, and a link to jump to the start of each, but no location numbers, so you can't tell how long each is, without jumping to the start of each and noting the location, something much too frustrating to do. It would be much better if this information were listed in the table of contents. For a novel, say, there is no easy way to find out the lengths of the individual chapters, something you can easily do by flipping the pages of a book. Often, when reading, reader would like to know how long a chapter is or how near the end of one would finish the book or chapter. Also, there is no way to closure between two pages.

Anyway most for experiencing reading online would be something that readers will try. But probably even though technology is expanding reader would still prefer books as they can feel and know where to start and end their reading.

Social media!

(Sources: mashable.com)
Social networking has always been a great topic to talk about and in this world of science and technology; everybody even - Obama and Dr. Mahathir has been involved in social network site. The growing number of users in social media has caused the internet traffic to stay active!

My first social media was FRIENDSTER. Well I created one because it is a trend at that time. I find it weird on how people at that time use it as part of their daily interaction. People will not forget FRIENDSTER as it was popular during their era. However till now there are people still have their Friendster account. As for me, I can't remember my user ID and password, After Friendster then people start to shift to MYSPACE. It was a trend at that time especially for those who are into music. It connects musician from all around the world to let them share opinion and exchange ideas within their own people in the same industry. And now the latest that everyone has been talking about and in fact the most users is FACEBOOK and 2nd is TWITTER.

Social media is more than a buzzword. It's now a lifestyle decision for not only individual but companies too and with this new era that doesn't love and use social media anyway? Well everyone now that social media is pretty addicting, People, in fact me myself  will spend a lot of time searching on the web for articles and relevant news that related to what i felt funny or interesting to share and put on Facebook and Twitter sites.
When i first started using Facebook, I became obsessed with checking to see how many new friends or followers I would get - at a point I would be doing another task but every five seconds I wanted to click back over and see how many post on their Facebook or if there is anyone who add me. At one point Facebook was fun; every minute people would update their daily activity. It's either through pictures or words. Social media has created awareness for some people by giving information or providing information of what is happening around the world.

However, as time pass by, social media is an issue in most organizations because employees tend not to concentrate on their work but rather spend time "Face-booking" and this would definitely impact the staff’s productivity. Other than that, now it has become viral on how social media "power" towards the world. Stories spread, pictures gone wild and so on.

No matter how this social media has spread people will still use it. As it has become a part of our daily lives.

My first time

(Sources: enriquesantos.com)

Introduction on my early days - During my younger days, me and my friends were usually skipping classes and go to the arcades for games, and we would even play hide and seek at the park. I was 11 years old then and to be honest, I was one naughty girl at that time. Teacher would nag at me for not completing my homework, mom and dad would scold me due to my lazy-ness, and much more negative things about me at that time. All I know is enjoy, having fun with my friends, etc.

So,one day, Me and my friends were planning to sneak out from school and thinking to play around at the playground with friends from other schools. As we are about to make our way to the playground, my dad passed by with his red Chevrolet and immediately stop the car with his face as fierce as a lion demanded me to get in the car. Can you imagine how I feel at that very moment? My legs were shaking and my heart was beating very fast not as per usual, because I was afraid of my dad for my wrong doing. When we reached home, my dad straight away scolded me like crazy and my mom was crying while looking at me. At that time, I just realized how bad I was and how much my parents wanted me to change into a better person. After all this happened, I was grounded.

In the house, reading the papers (my daily routine), I came through an article on the INTERNET. Let me summarize it. What is the INTERNET?

Well, from my own definition in layman language, internet means in-to-the-net. Where all informations and data are connected in one worldwide network. Informations on anything and everything can be found on the net. After further improvisation, the internet even let people to stay connected with one another through social networking such as facebook, twitter, and many more. Live video chat and downloading songs and videos are at ease in the presents of the internet.

My first time accessing the internet is by creating email. At that time I read all the information thoroughly and making sure that every step that I create is crucial. The best was I even called my friend's and ask them on whether some of the information needed is it necessary for me to input it. Creating email was actually easy but because lack of knowledge in Information System it actually feels like I'm going through hard time in learning something that is easy to create. From then onward I have learned on how important having an email.

(Sources: blog.framebench.com)
Until now people are still using e-mail as part of communications and it will be used for any formality interaction. There's a good reason email is used so often for any communication. It transmits messages over communications networks. In fact due to advancement of technology and smartphones has become a trend for everyone to get one. There are roughly 1.08 billion smartphones users and e-mail can be access through smartphones and everyone can reply it on the spot. For most of us email is a critical part of our daily lives. Many of us are connected nearly every second with our smartphone devices, tablets and laptops throughout the day. Email app seems to be an essential area because it is one of the most used applications on smart devices.

I am one of the smartphone users and I have realize how important for me to have an email app because it keeps me connected with all the activities during my studies.
